John Vaughan, Jr. R-1 the eldest son, left a Witl executed in
1705 and probated at Newport in January 1710/11. This Will is
preserved at the Newport Historical Society with the old town
records. The Will shows one son John and two grandsons, John
and Daniel. This Will may be new to some genealogists in the
Vaughan family. The two deeds dated July 21, 1709 are on record
at Portsmouth, R.l. These two deeds prove conclusevely that it
was John Vaughan, Jr. (1644-1710) who married Mary Mott
daughter of A.dam Mott, Jr. There have been some genealogists
who have previously concluded that David Vaughan (1646-1678)
(brother of John Vaughan, Jr.) was the one who married Mary
Mott. Subsequent deeds copied and on file prove this to be the
John Vaughan who settled in Lebanon, Conn. ca 1730 with his son
Daniel. It is my understanding that some genealogists have
concluded it was John Vaughan born 1679 son of Daniel and
Susannah (Ginney) Vaughan who settled at Lebanon. I am
undecided as to whether John Vaughan (son of John Vaughan, Jr.)
married Marcy Millard of Rehoboth, Mass. or Mary Lawton. I feel
sure he married one or the other and that his cousin mentioned
above, John Vaughan son of Daniel, married one of these two
girls. The vast number of descendants which accumulate from
John Vaughan, J r., eldest son of John &Gillian, are derived
particularly through the large family of John Vaughan
(1732-1820). The latter was a son of Daniel and Martha (Throop)
Vaughan and had thirteen children.Person Source
