Aeneas MACAULAY

Youngest son of the Manse of Applecross He was a most
remarkable man. See info in files under John Martin 'The
MacAulays of Bracadale'. He was chosen by Earl of Selkirk to
supervise his colonization schemes for Prince Edward Island.
He sailed on the Polly with a large contingent of Skye
emigrants, many of them relatives of his own, to P.E.I., and
founded a Skye settlement at Belfast on that island.


Angus MACAULAY

Succeeded his father as Tacksman at Brenish. First of the
family to become associated with Brenish in Uig, of which he
was tacksman. Ann his wife (probably his second) was the
daughter of Alexander MacKenzie of Achilty.
Killed in the battle of Auldearn in 1645.


Donald Cam (one-eyed Donald MACAULAY

Donald Cam (Blind Donald) was Tacksman of Brenish, Lewis, he
gave eleven at least of his decendants to the srvice of the
church:- 2 Great Grandsons, 4 Great-great grandsons, 4
Great-great great grandsons and 1 g-g-g-g grandson. First in
the family to stand out prominently in the traditions of Lewis.
He lived in Uig, and according to MacAulay tradition, was the
son of Dugald, the son of John Roy, the son of Dugald. A Man of
great phisical strength and daring, One eyed Donald took a
prominent part in resisting the settlement of the Fife
colonists in Lewis, and afterwards assisted the MacLeods in
their attempts to keep the MacKenzies from settling in the
Island.
The first MacAulay of Lewis on record is Donald (Cam),
mentioned in 1610, who is said to have been captured along with
Torquil Dubh in 1597, but escaped.
